Terms of Service

Al-Mawārīth is an educational tool to help you understand and estimate the Qurʾānic (Sunni farāʾiḍ) distribution of an estate. Please read these terms before relying on it.

Last updated: 19 July 2026

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the Al-Mawārīth calculator and website at fareez.dev/mcalc (the “Service”). By using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

1. Educational purpose only

Al-Mawārīth is an educational guide, not a binding ruling. It does not provide legal, financial, tax, or religious (fatwā) advice, and using it does not create any professional or advisory relationship. Nothing on the Service is a substitute for the judgement of a qualified scholar, Imam, or licensed professional.

2. Accuracy and no warranty

The Service applies the classical Sunni method of farāʾiḍ as broadly agreed across the four schools, including ʿawl and radd. However, an estate's binding distribution depends on which heirs are actually alive at the time of death, on facts the calculator cannot know, and sometimes on contested cases (such as the grandfather inheriting alongside siblings) or distant kindred (dhawū al-arḥām) that require scholarly judgement.

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including accuracy, completeness, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. You are responsible for verifying any result before acting on it.

3. Always confirm with a qualified scholar

Before distributing any estate, you must confirm the shares with a qualified Imam, scholar, or Al-Mawārīth expert. A calculated result is a starting point for understanding — not an authorisation to distribute.

4. Scholar review service

You may request a review of your situation by a scholar or Al-Mawārīth expert. Submitting a request is not a guarantee that a review will be provided, nor of any particular outcome or turnaround time. Any indicative pricing shown is subject to a final quote once a reviewer sees the situation. The binding ruling rests with the reviewing scholar or expert, exercising their own independent judgement.

5. Donations

Any donations made through the Service are voluntary and, unless expressly stated otherwise, non-refundable. Donations do not purchase a service, priority, or any particular result.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to misuse the Service. In particular, you will not:

  • use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in breach of these Terms;
  • attempt to disrupt, overload, reverse-engineer, or gain unauthorised access to the Service or its systems;
  • submit false, misleading, or another person's information without authority; or
  • copy, scrape, or redistribute the Service's content except as permitted below.

7. Intellectual property

The Service, including its text, design, code, and the Al-Mawārīth name and schedule, is protected by intellectual-property rights and is provided for your personal, non-commercial use. Qurʾānic verses and the words of the Sunnah are quoted for educational reference. You may not reproduce or exploit the Service commercially without permission.

8. Third-party services and links

The Service relies on and may link to third-party services (for example, cloud hosting, fonts, libraries, and geolocation for currency). We are not responsible for the content, availability, or practices of third parties. Your use of them is governed by their own terms.

9. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Al-Mawārīth and its operators will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential loss, or for any loss arising from reliance on a calculation or on the Service, including any incorrect distribution of an estate. The Service is a learning aid; responsibility for the actual distribution of an estate rests with you and your appointed scholar or executor.

10. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Al-Mawārīth and its operators from any claim arising out of your misuse of the Service or your breach of these Terms.

11. Changes

We may modify the Service or these Terms at any time. Updated Terms take effect when posted, and we will revise the “Last updated” date above. Your continued use of the Service after changes means you accept the revised Terms.

12. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws applicable to the operator of the Service, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute will be subject to the courts of that jurisdiction, unless a mandatory law in your place of residence provides otherwise.

13. Contact

Questions about these Terms can be sent through our Scholar Review request form, or to the contact address published on fareez.dev.
